National Honor Society
National Honor Society membership provides opportunities for students, grades 10-12, to reach their fullest potential in school and in life by providing NHS chapters with resources and tools to enhance leadership development and service learning skills. The NHS strengthens the ability of students to make significant contributions to their schools and communities.
The NHS promotes the ideas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS membership is a distinction that holds significance throughout a student’s academic life – and beyond.
National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.
Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
ExpandED Learning Time
Welcome to the new academic year at Thurgood Marshall Academy for Learning and Social Change (TMA)! For two years, TMA has partnered with SoBro to support the ExpandED Learning Time program (ELT), a comprehensive enrichment program that equips middle school students with the knowledge and skills required to discover their passions and grow academically. At its heart, the ELT program is a college-prep program. We aim to develop students who are prepared to tussle with the academic and social rigors of college-level study.
At Thurgood Marshall Academy, our philosophy is to educate the whole student; research has shown that students who are engaged in interactive activities after school will perform better academically during the school day.
